Biography
UK Singer/Songwriter - Wendie Barker born in Croydon, England, Wendie grew up listening to her Barbadian father playing the piano. Influenced by UK Lovers Rock singers such as Louisa Marks and Jazz greats like Billie Holliday, Wendie started her musical career singing harmonies at church. Wendie completed a course at Goldsmiths University, London studying Singing and Music Theory and went on to sing primarily as a Jazz singer. Her repertoire includes Jazz standards, Reggae and her own compositions.
Wendie’s love of music also includes DJ-ing which she started at age 16 and has played at venues across the UK and Barbados as well as hosting radio shows on Genesis 91.6FM and www.UK246.com.
In 2016 she wrote and released her first single ’50 years’ in celebration of her ancestral homeland Barbados 50th Independence. The song received airplay on local radio stations with live performances at the Barbados Film Awards and the television programme ‘Good Morning Barbados’.
In 2019 Wendie signed to the UK record label ‘UK Pressure Records’, on Valentine day 2020 'Love is Blind' a heartfelt rendition that she wrote was released
on the popular 'Just my Imagination' album.

Wendie is already making waves amongst reggae fans with the pre-release of her version of the classic Louisa Marks Lover Rock song ‘Keep it like it is’ which is due for release in 2021.
